A friend like me
En ven som mig (A friend like me) is a heartwarming musical tale about friendship and diversity, suitable for children ages 4 to 8. Inspired by the 100-year anniversary of the reunion of Denmark and Southern Jutland, the play tells the story of Anna, a young girl who moves to a new city and worries about finding a new best friend like her old one, Hanna. Along the way, Anna meets new friends who are different from her, but they all learn that being different is what makes them unique and special. Through dance, song, and storytelling, En ven som mig teaches children about the importance of friendship, empathy, and understanding in a world where differences should be celebrated, not feared. The play is performed by actor Sofie Ancher Vea and a musician, using a simple yet imaginative scenography that allows children to use their own creativity to imagine the story’s world. The direct storytelling style invites children to participate in the story and become allies in Anna’s search for friendship. En ven som mig is a universal story that speaks to the themes of friendship, loss, fear of the unknown, and the joy of finding common ground, making it a valuable lesson for children in today’s world.
